Burnley boss Howe pushing for Stoke defender Shotton

Burnley manager Eddie Howe is pushing to land Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton.

The loan deal is proving difficult to complete after the defender was named on the substitutes' bench for the win over Liverpool on Saturday.

"We're still in the hunt for a couple, but there will come a time when we're going to have to look elsewhere," Howe told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"I'm still trying [to bring players in], absolutely. I think we need to. But as we've said all along, it's proving quite difficult."
