Burnley boss Dyche: I can understand Carroll - but he had to go

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was pleased with their 1-1 draw against West Ham.

The match turned when Andy Carroll was sent off for quick successive yellow cards.

Dyche said: "It's fair to say he was moving at a fair velocity from a distance...I think everyone in the stadium thought he was going to make a big challenge.

"I've been a player, you can get locked in the moment and you can't pull yourself out.

"I actually think there's a lack of honest physicality in the league at times, but that one is a two bookings and the second one is possibly a straight red. I think he'll know. It's a definite sending-off, the ref had no choice."

Dyche also said of Chris Wood's equaliser: "It's certainly not relief.

"We deserved to get something and we got something.

"My only disappointment is giving away a really poor goal.

"It can be difficult against 10 men and we had to keep probing but I was very pleased with our intensity."
