Andre Gray scored a second-half hat-trick as Burnley twice came from behind to beat non-league Alfreton 3-2 at North Street.
Tom Allan headed Alfreton in front late in the first half but Gray levelled for the Clarets soon after the break following a one-two with Jon Walters.
Alfreton retook the lead through Chris Sharp but it lasted just a couple of minutes before Gray was brought down in the box. The striker dusted himself off to convert from the spot and completed his treble 15 minutes later.
"He looked nice and sharp, he's looked nice and sharp in pre-season in general," Clarets boss Sean Dyche said of Gray.
"To be honest we made two mistakes and other than that we made a lot of chances. The 'keeper was terrific, particularly first half."
