Burnley boss Dyche: Barnes produced masterclass against Man City

Burnley boss Sean Dyche hailed the performance of Ashley Barnes in their 2-2 draw at Manchester City.

The 25-year-old capped an outstanding display when he lashed in the Clarets' equaliser nine minutes from time at the Etihad Stadium to complete a comeback that looked out of sight at half-time.

"That was one of the best centre forward performances I've seen in a long, long time, particularly against this standard of player," said the Burnley manager.

"When I talk about the growth of the team and the way they're maturing he is certainly part of that, his performance level over the weeks.

"You've got to remember his journey from the lower leagues, he has earned the right, he was fought for the right to be at this level, so why wouldn't he take the chance?

"I talk about a lot of the players playing with freedom, never more so than coming to these sort of grounds, and he encapsulated that on Sunday with a fine performance and a sublime finish."
