Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants to bring Stoke City veteran Glenn Whelan to Turd Moor this summer, according to the Sun.

Dyche reportedly wants to add an experienced body to his midfield, and he has identified Whelan as a like-for-like replacement for Barton.

The Clarets are reportedly confident that they can sign the 33-year-old in a deal worth £2.5 million.

The Clarets have already signed Irish striker Jonathan Walters from Stoke this summer.
