Burnley boss Sean Dyche admits being priced out of his priority transfer targets over the summer.
Dyche revealed that bringing in three of his top targets would have cost in excess of £20m - money Burnley were not prepared to gamble in their bid to stay in the Premier League.
Dyche said: "Some of the players we went in for in the summer the numbers were unbelievable and that's Championship players.
"Top end of the Championship players earning unbelievable money, way more than we pay in the Premier League, and clubs far richer than us, usually because of the owners, asking for astronomical fees this club just decided it couldn't do."
On Burnley's wanted list were Watford striker Troy Deeney and Derby midfielder Craig Bryson, who both stayed put and signed new deals.
