Burnley boss Coyle plays down bust-up with Everton No2 Round

Burnley boss Owen Coyle played down his touchline row with Everton No2 Steve Round during last night's defeat.

Coyle reacted furiously to James Vaughan's opener, insisting the goal should have been disallowed.

Coyle was involved in an angry confrontation with Everton's assistant manager Round as he argued his case.

But the Turf Moor chief later insisted: "It was nothing. Passions sometimes run high during a game but it was all over in an instant.

"You say things, you hear things, and you both get it off your chest. But should the goal have been chalked off? Definitely.

"There is no doubt Yakubu was clearly offside.

"It was difficult for the referee because, in those situations, he is looking for help from his assistants . . . and he didn't get any.

"Brian Jensen stuck his foot out and almost saved it - and he might have stopped it if he hadn't had a big physical lad in front of him.

"That has certainly influenced the goal.

"That makes it hard to take because the second goal was just incidental. We had committed a lot of players forward trying to get the goal back."
