Burnley boss Owen Coyle says Celtic and Rangers could lose their identity if they join England's Premier League.

Coyle turned down the Celtic job in the summer and is unsure about the prospect of the Old Firm moving to England.

He told TalkSport: "Well I've got two thoughts. First one is Celtic and Rangers are global clubs and the first is, who's going to vote for it?, because everybody, as you'll understand, will look after self interests and if it's to the detriment of two English clubs, then why would they vote for that? And the second thing, in regards to the Scottish league, is supporters follow winning teams and if Celtic and Rangers weren't in the league, all of a sudden Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee United, St Johnstone, they've all got a chance of winning the league.

"I can accept that (the fact they will be playing against big English clubs) but I would also say that if you look at most clubs in Europe, whether they are in the Irish league or the Belgian league, they will still have kids supporting these global clubs but they will still have an affinity with their own club. And the other thing I used to find in Scotland, and it what I loved about when I came to Burnley, is that you walk through Burnley, you see nothing but Burnley tops. I don't really know the answer but its open there for debate."
