Burnley are moving for Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood.
The Express & Star says the Clarets are understood to have made an enquiry and are ready to make a formal bid if the 26-year-old is prepared to take a cut on his £35,000-a-week wage demands.
Westwood joined Villa in a £2million move from Crewe in 2013 and signed a new five-year deal last August but is set to see his salary drop considerably following the club's relegation to the Championship.
New boss Roberto Di Matteo will wait until pre-season before making any decisions on his current squad, though Westwood is likely to be among those he would ideally like to keep.
