But Burley told talkSPORT: "I think as much as the press pack are loving the fact that he is, probably, going to come back. I actually think that at the end of it all before, people were starting to get a bit tired of him.
"The interesting thing for me, though, is that, and there is no doubt that he is a magnificent manager, he sold himself to Roman Abramovich as the 'Special One' but, ultimately, he failed to deliver the special prize for Chelsea, which was the Champions League.
"And he has also failed to deliver it for, arguably, the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid. So, he's not quite selling himself to the owner as the Special One. He's nearly special but he didn't quite do it for the clubs he wanted to do it for."
