Burgess has no grudge over love-hate Blackpool fans relationship

Ben Burgess has no regrets leaving Blackpool for Notts County.

Ian Holloway wanted the 28-year-old to stay at Bloomfield Road. But the lure of a two-year-deal and regular football at Notts County persuaded Burgess to head to pastures new.

However, Burgess - the man with the flapping bird goal celebration - won't forget his time on the Fylde in a hurry.

"It's been an absolutely brilliant period in my life," he told the Blackpool Gazette.

"I signed when the club was at the bottom of League One and I'm leaving them in the Premier League.

"Two promotions, two trips to Wembley, got married, had a kid, got a degree ... in fact it has been the busiest four years of my life.

"It must be that Blackpool is just such an inspiring place!

"And by leaving I think for once I've made all the fans smile!"

He's joking, but it's true Burgess wasn't flavour of the month with every supporter.

But he holds no grudges and said: "It's fine. I'm sure I frustrate even my wife when I'm playing sometimes!

"Blackpool has great fans but not everyone will like you all the time."
