Buffon warns against Juventus complacency

Gigi Buffon has warned Juventus teammates against complacency after last week's thrashing of Livorno.

A comfortable 3-1 midweek win over Parma in the Coppa Italia followed their 5-1 triumph over Livorno last Saturday.

But Buffon said: "These wins can only give us confidence. They teach us lessons that in order to return strong we must impose ourselves in every game and not underestimate any encounter.

"In the past, we did lose focus and we cannot do that now."

With the Bianconeri not competing in Europe this season, the Turin giants have their eyes set on the domestic competitions, including the Coppa Italia.

"It is one of our aims this year," said Buffon. "It would be fantastic if we win it as Juve has not won this trophy for a long time (1994/95 campaign)."

Juve coach Claudio Ranieri rested key players like Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved in midweek in view of Sunday's encounter in Sardinia.

Ranieri will be hoping his team can show the same determination and form against Cagliari that they showed in their last two games.

"I want a humble Juventus, like the one seen in the past two matches," he said.

"During the pre-season, we received lots of criticisms but that changed with our victory against Livorno as we were then flooded by praise.

"I can assure you that these victories have not given my men big heads. Our mentality has not changed, we remain humble because this team knows what it has to do."
