Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon says he wears the captain's armband with pride.
Buffon admits he never would've expected the captaincy just a couple of years ago.
"I am very proud to be the captain of Juventus and never would've believed it a few years ago. At times I try to avoid thinking about being a reference point for the fans and teammates, just in case the enormity of it intimidates me.
"The initial criticism was excessive, but when you have a lot of experience it's the type of thing that wakes you up, makes you feel alive again and want to prove yourself all over. This is the essence of our job, the essence of being a top level sportsman."
