West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt believes it is important that the club offers a rewarding new contract to manager Steve Clarke.
Clarke is out of contract at the end of the season but midfielder Brunt is eager to see him remain at the helm at The Hawthorns and keep making inroads into the development of the Baggies.
"The club has made it clear they are going to speak to him about a new contract in the New Year," he said.
"I for one enjoy working with the gaffer and I'd like that to continue. He has taken the club on."
Clarke has Albion sitting 11th on the Premier League ahead of Monday's West Midlands derby with Aston Villa following last season's eighth-place finish.
