Brunt not expecting easy West Brom return

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt is closing on a return but is not expecting to slide straight back in to the first team.

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt is closing on a return but is not expecting to slide straight back in to the first team.

The Northern Ireland midfielder has been sidelined with a fractured ankle since New Year’s Day and even though he is not far away from playing again, he is well aware that getting back into the Baggies line-up will be a task in itself.

"I definitely don't expect to walk straight back in - no way,” he said.

"If we keep playing like we did against Wolves (5-1 win on February 12) I'll have a job on my hands getting back in the team.

"It was such a good performance by everyone it would be hard to change anyone in the team.

"That's the way it should be at a football club. There should be competition for places.

"We don't have many injuries, we have good competition for places, and that means everyone has got to be on their toes."
