Porto defender Bruno Alves put his hands up for his howler which led to Wayne Rooney's goal for Manchester United during last night's 2-2 draw.
Alves attracted a January bid from Manchester City and also is being linked with United after joining the stable of Jorge Mendes, the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo.
"The mistake was like a bad dream," confessed Alves. "I was at fault, but we recovered and the team bounced back.
"When I received the ball, I thought that Helton was alone, but Rooney was smart. It happens. The team made a fantastic reaction.
"Now we have a tricky game at home, everything is open. We did not limit ourselves to defend and the team is to be congratulated."
