Brugge to offer Ryan lucrative new deal

Club Brugge are set to offer talented goalkeeper Mat Ryan a new contract just seven months after first signing for the club.

The 21-year old Australian gloveman joined the Belgian side from Central Coast Mariners in late May and after starting in all 20 Pro League matches so far, will be the recipient of improved terms according to his agent Mikkel Beck.

"The club very is happy with Mat and we are in discussions over an improved contract for him already, although nothing has been signed yet," Beck said of Ryan who is already contracted until the end of the 2015/16 season.

"The club want to reward him and of course we are not against the idea but everything has to be right before you sign something new.

"So we are taking our time and I am pretty confident we will find an agreement, possibly early in the 2014.

"He has proven himself an outstanding goalkeeper and while there are also other clubs watching and following him, he is appreciative of what Club Brugge as done for him and is very content there.

"He is not looking to leave the club and it's important for Mat to settle in Europe and Club Brugge is a great place for him.

"We should not forget he is getting used to life in Europe and with each game he is showing more and more."

Ryan has thus far kept eight clean sheets for Brugge who sit second on the Belgian Pro League table, two points in arrears of league leaders Standard Liege.
