Hull City boss Steve Bruce has told fans they'll have to accept the club's name change.
Bruce has bluntly told dismayed Hull City fans to "get used to it" after owner Assem Allam confirmed that he intends adding 'Tigers' to the club's name.
"I can understand where the fans are coming from, because we are such big traditionalists in this country," said the Hull manager. "A lot of people have supported this club from the year dot, and it has always been Hull City AFC. But the owner is from a different culture, and when you take into account the money he has put in, if he feels Hull Tigers is the way forward, we have to respect that.
"It might not suit everyone, but he has done so much to save this club that if he wanted us to wear pink and white stripes, we would have to go along with it, because without him, there would not be a Hull City. It would be something like Portsmouth here, a club struggling to survive. We owe him a huge debt.
"It has rumbled on, but he does seem adamant about it. And I know from sharing many a cup of coffee with him that when he's adamant about something, he ain't changing."
