Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is still angry at the manner of last Saturday's defeat at former club Wigan. The Black Cats headed for the DW Stadium to meet a side which had just been trounced 9-1 by Tottenham.
However, it was Roberto Martinez's men who came out on top inflicting a fifth defeat in seven Barclays Premier League games away from home for the Black Cats.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "I can't stomach the sort of performance we saw at Wigan, like the one we saw at Birmingham or for much of the game at Burnley, because those results end up catching up with you.
"This is the frustrating part of it - the fact that we could have been doing so much better if we had just turned in a half-decent performance in some of these games we would be a lot better off points wise."
Bruce added: "I don't often get angry, but I was on Saturday and in all honesty, I'm not in much of a better mood now when I think of the game. I'm still struggling to hide my disappointment.
"Defeats are part and parcel of football, so it's got nothing to do with that, or with the game being against my old club - it's all about how poorly we performed on the day.
"I have always said I don't mind us losing so long as we lose 'with our boots on', as long as you turn up and you have a right good crack at the opposition."
