Bruce now regrets taking Sunderland job

Hull City boss Steve Bruce says he made a mistake taking the Sunderland job. Bruce became manager of the Black Cats in 2009 and was sacked two years later after a poor run of form.

Speaking ahead of Hull facing his former side on Saturday, Bruce said: "Maybe looking back on it in hindsight going there was arguably a mistake, being where I'm from, being a Newcastle fan as a boy. Some would never forgive that.

"Thankfully Hull gave me the opportunity to get back to work again and when you get sacked you want to come back out fighting and show people what you're about."
