Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has revealed he hopes to sign a creative midfielder on Monday.

He said: "We tracked Mathieu Flamini for a lot of the summer but then he decided to stay at Arsenal, a decision we respect.

"Then we thought we were going to get Hossam Ghaly from Tottenham and we all know what happened with that deal.

"I am hopeful that we will bring in a midfielder from abroad by Monday. He has still a lot to learn but does have some pedigree about him."
