Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has named new signing Lorik Cana as club captain.

Bruce told safc.com: "I've made the decision and Lorik will remain captain of the club.

"He's done it before at his previous club, some people might raise their eyebrows and think, 'he's a foreign player', but he speaks the language perfectly well, he leads by example, he's a good age, he's got experience, he captains his country, he captained his old club in Marseille.

"I think anybody who's watched him will understand why I've made him captain of the club.
