Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce believes Sunderland won't be in the relegation mix this season thanks to his former Manchester United teammate, Roy Keane.

"I am really pleased for Roy and know that he will do well this season," admitted Bruce, ahead of Sunderland's visit to St Andrews tonight after City lost their first game 3-2 at Chelsea.

"I don't think I have seen anyone tipping them for the drop and that is down to Roy's mentality and people's high opinion of what he can achieve. I know what we can expect from Roy because of how he played and he won't accept any less commitment from anyone that plays for him.

"We all know what Roy was about as a player and he has brought those characteristics into management."
