Bruce jubilant after Hull get better of Liverpool

Hull City manager Steve Bruce was in a very jubilant mood after watching his side beat Liverpool 3-1 at the KC Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Jake Livermore, David Meyler and an own-goal from Martin Skrtel allowed the Tigers to record their first victory over the Reds in 17 outings which put them 10th on the Premier League table, delighting Bruce, who felt it was their best performance of the season.

"It certainly has to be," he told Sky Spors.

"For me personally beating Sunderland and beating Newcastle (are the best results) but it's another three points.

"But what it does do, it gives the players a bit more belief. Some of them haven't played a lot in the Premier League and what they need is results like today to give them that belief that they can play at this level.

"We disappointed ourselves last week (in the 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace) so you needed a response. So it was a big game in that respect.

"Sometimes when you play against the big ones, there's no real motivation from me - they know they have to play well if they want to try and get a result."
