Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was pleased with Stephane Sessegnon's debut in their defeat to Chelsea.
The Benin international started on the left wing before moving into a central role and showed some nice touches and link-up play during the 4-2 defeat to Chelsea.
"I thought he was terrific considering it was his debut and he's only been here for two or three days," Bruce, who splashed out around £6m to sign the attacking midfielder, told safc.com.
"It was a great first game and Stephane gave the fans a glimpse of what he can do. Once he settles down here I'm sure he'll do very well for us."
Bruce added: "Stephane's got bags of pace and can beat a man. He's the kind of player who makes things happen and I'm sure he will do that for us.
"I predict he'll become a fans' favourite. He did well tonight considering he's not been here long."
