Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is confident Honduras international fullback Maynor Figueroa can make a Premiership impact.

"Maynor could be just like Wilson if he's given the time," said Bruce.

"He showed his desire to earn a contract by staying over Christmas, in the Wrightington Hotel on his own, while his wife and child were in Honduras.

"I've not really had the chance to look at Maynor apart from in training - and we've only played one reserve game in four weeks.

"The deal with his club Olimpia is similar to the one with Wilson, and we could be getting a quality player for about €1 million (£750,000) if it works out for him."
