Sunderland boss Steve Bruce branded his players "pathetic" in their FA Cup defeat to Notts County.

This Bruce's second humiliation at the hands of Magpies this season.

And he cannot afford a third at the Stadium of Light next Sunday when Newcastle United return for the Wear-Tyne derby.

Bruce said: "If I'm being honest the side who play Newcastle won't resemble that one. To go out like that was pathetic."
