Bruce admits Hull gamble over Ince deal

Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits they've taken a gamble on signing Thomas Ince.

Bruce is keen to see the youngster prove himself in the top flight.

"He's a little bit unknown in the Premier League. He had a little spell on loan at Crystal Palace and he's got great ability," said the City boss to the Hull Daily Mail.

"Again, he's something we haven't got. He's a bit different. He can beat a man and score a goal.

"I've known him since he was a boy (through Ince's father Paul) and that trust in me maybe just swayed it.

"He had an offer from Inter Milan, I know that for a fact, but he decided it was too soon to go out there.

"Paul went out there when he was 27 and found it difficult, let alone 22.

"We gave it to him straight. I bought him a cup of coffee and a cheese toastie and hoped it would be enough. Thankfully, it was."
