Wes Brown is demanding £80,000-a-week to stay with Manchester United, it has been revealed.

The News of the World says Brown's advisors point to the fact United rejected an £800,000 offer from Newcastle last month, placing a £3million fee on the defender's head.

They feel such a price tag should be reflected by putting Brown, 28, on a similar salary to other senior players at the club.

Rio Ferdinand earns £100,000-plus a week, while Cristiano Ronaldo is negotiating a staggering £140,000-a-week deal.
