Phil Brown admits Boaz Myhill's howler in Hull City's defeat at Arsenal cost him his job last season.
Brown was dismissed by Hull chairman Adam Pearson in the wake of a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal, when an error from Myhill allowed Nicklas Bendtner to score an injury-time winner.
Brown said he had not expected to get the chop after that game while adding Myhill's error had "cost me very, very heavily".
"When Adam Pearson came into the office on that dreaded Monday morning and said 'It's not good news Phil' obviously my stomach sank," he went on.
"We had a difficult game against Arsenal, but unfortunately Boaz Myhill made a mistake in the 94th minute and that seems to have cost me very, very heavily.
"With regards to getting the sack I didn't see it coming.
"The owner asked me to come in to plan a strategy to survive in the Premier League. I had six or seven bullet points I was going to say but unfortunately I never got to say them."
