Wes Brown hopes to continue his Sunderland comeback this week.
The defender is keen to play some part in Wednesday's Capital One Cup clash with Southampton.
The former Manchester United stopper featured against Hull City and said: "It was only 45 minutes, so for myself that was fine.
"It was just good to be back in the swing of things.
"Hopefully, I can get a chance against Southampton.
"That is what I have been working for, that is why I have been working hard in training.
"We will see what happens, but touch wood I can play a part."
