Richard Garcia's equaliser cancelled out Jason Roberts' opener to earn the Tigers a 1-1 draw away to Blackburn.
"We'll not get carried away, because at the end of the day we've only played two games," said Brown.
"It was important that we got something from the game. We could have gone on to win the game, whether that would have been fair or not doesn't matter.
"But I'm ecstatic with a point to tell you the truth. It was a great point on our travels and if we can continue with that sort of passion and commitment then we'll be okay this year.
"But that bit of quality in the final third is what you pay big money for. We had one or two half chances that we maybe could have turned into real chances, but we wasted those opportunities.
"Like I say though, I'm very pleased with the result."
