Brown confident Wigan can take something from Chelsea

Michael Brown insists seventh-placed Wigan can face Chelsea full of confidence.

Brown told the Wigan Evening Post: "We're doing okay at the moment and another draw at Chelsea on Saturday would be fantastic.

"Offer us 0-0 now and I think most of us would take it. I'm not being negative saying that - a point there would be an excellent result and take us closer to where we want to be.

"We've been up in seventh place for quite a while now and with the points buffer we built up a couple of months ago, that was always going to be the case.

"It's a fantastic achievement for this club to be where we are in the table, and it would be great if we could finish the season in the top area. I don't see why we can't manage that.

"After Chelsea we've got West Ham, Sunderland and Hull coming up, all teams who are quite close to us.

"We've got 35 points at the moment, this time last year we had 23, so we're doing much better. You don't feel as much pressure playing the games.

"There's still work to be done, we've got another few points to get before we hit 40 points, which was our target at the beginning of the season."
