The former Illinois Tech forward tried out with the Fire as a defender, just like Eric who is slowly becoming a regular with the English Premier League club and USA national team.
Andrew said that the more he coaches the U11 team in Naperville, the more he wants to play at a professional level, hence the reason for the tryout.
"Every time you coach you wish you could be on the pitch playing with your friends," he told the Daily Herald. "It's just hard always coaching, so I just figured I'd give it a last go, call it if that's how it works out."
Lichaj admitted he spoke with his brother regarding the tryout, which consisted of more than 200 people from 19 countries, to see where he was best suited.
"I had a talk with my brother and he said it would be harder for me to play at the next level as an offensive player because there's a lot more players," Lichaj added.
"He said defense would probably be a better fit for me, and I've played defense in the past."
