The brother of Ajax prospect Riechedly Bazoer admits a move to Manchester City was close.

Bazoer was enrolled in the academy of PSV Eindhoven, before leaving for Ajax in a controversial move.

City made a serious play for the teen, as older brother and agent Irchandly recalls: "City made a big impact on us. The club is very big, but the academy is really fantastic. You have everything there ... top trainers, top facilities, there are big names there that you bump into all the time.

"The financial and sporting offer from City was great. If a student gets a chance to go to Harvard, he does it, right?

"But Riechedly wanted to stay close to his family and friends."
