Brosque chalks up 100 with Sydney FC

Sydney FC striker Alex Brosque will play his 100th game for the club when they meet Perth Glory on Sunday.

Sydney FC striker Alex Brosque will play his 100th game for the club when they meet Perth Glory on Sunday.

The 27-year old will chalk up the milestone just over four years after he made his debut for the Sky Blues on August 27, 2006.

During his Sydney FC career, Brosque has taken out the Player of the Year award on three of five occasions but is looking to simply come away with a win when he steps out for the ton rather than focus on individual achievements.

“It’s always a good feeling and achievement when you bring up those milestones but I hope we get a positive result from the game on Sunday to cap it off,” Brosque said.

“I didn’t realise I was close to playing that many games for the club but when I found out it was a nice surprise.

“It’s important to get the points this weekend. We really need to use the psychological advantage that we got from beating Perth away last time and really take it to them. We need to start well and go on with it.”

And Brosque admitted that winning the Championship/Premiership double last season was the best moment of his career so far.

“There have been ups and downs but last year would have to be the best moment,” Brosque added.

“From winning the Premiership on the last day of the season to going down to Melbourne to win the Championship was incredible so last year was by far the best moment for me.”
