Brooking: £100M National Football Centre a must

Sir Trevor Brooking says England's new national training centre is a must.

The £100million complex in Burton on Trent is not due to open for another two years.

But Brooking, the FA's director of youth development, says it will be the hub improving coaching in this country.

The West Ham United legend, 61, said: "The concept of a National Football Centre is vitally important for English football.

"It will provide the finishing school for producing more home-grown managers and coaches.

"We are the only leading football nation without a centre of this kind.

"But St George's Park will be something to be proud of - a symbol of national pride and hope for the future."
