Brockie keen for success with both Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand

Jeremy Brockie is eyeing success for both club and country after making the move to homeland outfit Wellington Phoenix.

The 24-year old attacking midfielder departed Newcastle Jets in the A-League off-season to head back to New Zealand where he signed a three-year deal with the Phoenix.

Brockie is currently in the Solomon Islands with the NZ national team, preparing for the Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup tournament, and is targeting triumphs at both domestic and international level.

"It's always good to play professional football in your home country so I can't wait to get stuck into training and performing for the club," he told tribalfootball.com.

"Wellington have been very consistent in making the play-offs the last few years but unfortunately just fell short last season.

"Hopefully with a few new signings and the bulk of the squad still there, we will be looking to go a couple of steps further (next season)."

As for the All Whites, they take on Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in the group stage of a tournament they are expected to win and Brockie has no doubt they can achieve that.

"The mood is good around the camp. We had two good results against El Salvador (2-2 draw) and Honduras (1-0 win, in which he provided the winner for Shane Smeltz) over in America and will take a lot of confidence from that," he said regarding the OFC tournament which kicks off this weekend.

"Everyone knows the Islands are always tough to come and play in and the opposing teams have some good individual players in their squads but obviously we will be looking to win the tournament."
