Broadcast deal for MLS expansion franchise Atlanta United

Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise Atlanta United have reached a multi-year local broadcast agreement with Fox Sports Regional Networks, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

Under the deal, announced on Tuesday, Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast will serve as the team's exclusive regional TV rights holders, beginning with United's inaugural MLS campaign this year.

All of the team's 19 non-nationally televised matches will air on one of the two stations, which have a combined reach of ten million households across Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, according to a United statement.

Fox Sports South will televise the first game included in the deal - United's away trip to Toronto FC - on 8th April.

Each of the match broadcasts will be accompanied by Atlanta United LIVE!, a 30-minute show before and after every game. Further auxiliary programming will also be shown throughout the season, including a weekly all-access show called Atlanta United: Match Week, and via the Fox Sports Go mobile app.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to announce Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast as our exclusive television rights holder," said Atlanta United president Darren Eales.

"Through this partnership, Atlanta United matches will reach a broad audience across the southeast, and will allow us to reach new fans in the region."
