Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard has rejected a move to Wigan Athletic.

The Daily Mail says Maynard has disappointed Roberto Martinez by turning down a move to Wigan Athletic.

Martinez faces an uphill battle in trying to persuade Maynard to move to the DW Stadium with Wigan bottom of the Barclays Premier League, four points adrift of safety.

City chairman Colin Sexstone said: "We are in advanced talks with Wigan. There is obviously the matter of Nicky deciding whether he wants to go to Wigan and whether he can come to terms with them."
