Rangers defender Andy Webster has joined Championship side Bristol City on loan until January.

The 26-year-old centre-half has struggled to make an impact at Ibrox having only made a single appearance since joining from Wigan in 2007.

Walter Smith said: "We feel it will be beneficial for him to get regular football there and we hope he can return to the level we all know he is capable of.

"Andy has had a torrid time since he arrived at Rangers and it will be good for him to get games in another environment."
