Bristol City hopeful over Chelsea loan star Abraham

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has expressed his hope that star man Tammy Abraham will return to full fitness as soon as possible.

Chelsea loanee Abraham has been missing in action for the Robins since picking up a thigh strain in the game against Leeds United last month and the 19-year-old sensation has returned to Stamford Bridge to undergo his rehabilitation.

Now City boss Johnson has provided an update to Abraham's injury status and has expressed his hope that the prolific youngster will be right to return to the pitch soon.

Johnson said: "Good news as far as the scan and it's best case scenario regarding the healing. We now have to have good communication with Chelsea about when he comes back.

"Naturally, we want him back as soon as possible and they are going to be careful with a young player. It's a matter of keeping good lines of communication open and talking to Chelsea.

"They have to look carefully at his recovery period and assess when it will be right to bring him back and allow him to play.

"He is a talented young player and one they regard highly, and they will want to look after him. I would like a little bit more information and, hopefully, I'll have that later today."

Abraham has scored 21 goals in 38 outings in all competitions for the Robins, including 18 in the Championship.
