Brisbane’s Sarota to join young guns on trial at FC Utrecht
Brisbane Roar youngster Adam Sarota will join teammates Tommy Oar and Michael Zullo on trial with Dutch club FC Utrecht.
The trio will travel to Holland later this week for a two-week trial with Eredivise club and Sarota is excited about the challenge.
“I’m really hoping to continue to raise my level of football experience,” Sarota said.
“I think the Dutch league is a very technical competition and would really suit my game.
“I want to see how professional (FC Utrecht) are, and then bring what I learn back to the Roar.”
Sarota admitted that the weather in Holland is likely to be a bit of a shock to the system but said the comfort of heading over with two close mates made things a lot easier.
“I think the big thing will be the weather,” the 21 year-old said.
“It’s coming into spring over there, but it will still be a lot colder than it is here in Brisbane.
“It’s definitely much better going over with (Michael) Zulls and Tommy (Oar), than rocking up by yourself.
“At least with those guys there you have a little bit of a support system.”

yeah a good move for Oar, not for Zullo, he needs to go to Romania to replace Josh Rose. But Sarota is a fantastic passer and his play will certainly help him in the techniqual league.. Zullo isnt the same quality as Oar, and considering they both play as left wingers they wont sign both of them... but the dutch leage is a great place for these youngsters to go! better than China and Korea!
It's only a two week trial, nothing concrete or permanent yet.
Wow, Utrecht is quite a decent club. All of them will get playing time as they're only mid-table and they always seem to challenge in the KNVB Cup. Great club to join if you ask me. I'd say Tommy would be better off at Utrecht than Feyenoord. They'll nurture him so they can sell him off to a PSV or an Ajax later on, not to mention he'll get way more game time. With Wijndalum, Gio, and Leroy Fer probably ahead of him in the wing roles at Feyenoord, a move to Utrecht could be a blessing. Lets hope they can all make a good impression.
