Brisbane's Moore keen on new challenge

Brisbane Roar captain Craig Moore said he is keen for a new challenge in the short-term that will also help him prepare for the World Cup.

The Australia international is currently one of two players in the A-League who are regulars in Pim Verbeek's Socceroos squad - the other is Gold Coast United's Jason Culina - but he knows he needs to move on prior to the next year's World Cup so he can remain at the peak of his powers.

"Very rarely do I let myself down as far as my performances go week in, week out," Moore said.

"I know I'm playing in Australia, which people might say is not the best standard in the world, but I still believe I'm one of the top players in Australia.

"I definitely need to leave and have a new challenge for the short term to really get myself in peak condition for the World Cup."

Moore is preparing for a must-win clash against the North Queensland Fury at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night as part of the A-League's round 19 midweek matches.
