Brisbane Roar are awaiting approval from Football Federation Australia to sign Ivan Franjic on a permanent basis.
The 22-year old has been used as an injury replacement for the Roar for both Andrew Packer and then Henrique and he has proved a find, performing brilliantly since joining in August.
The club and player have already agreed to a three-year deal starting next season but the Roar are looking into how they can sign the Melbourne product for the rest of the season.
The problem is the Roar have just $20,000 left in its salary cap but that is believed to be enough to cover the A-League's minimum wage requirements until the end of the season.
Brisbane coach Ange Postecoglou has been impressed by the Oakleigh Cannons right-back and is keen for him to remain at the club for the remainder of the season.
"He's done really well to adjust to the higher standard of the A-League," the Roar coach said.
"He's a great fit for the style of football that I like my teams to play."
