Brisbane Roar v Newcastle Jets preview

Second placed Brisbane Roar are looking to equal their undefeated record at home by notching up six games on the trot without a loss at Suncorp Stadium.

Second placed Brisbane Roar are looking to equal their undefeated record at home by notching up six games on the trot without a loss at Suncorp Stadium.

They take on the Newcastle Jets whose last match was on September 25 and will either be rusty or fresh.

The Jets have scored just four goals in eight games so don’t expect them to kick a winning score against a Roar outfit who have made a habit of closing down opposing forwards and keeping possession in midfield.

Ange Postecoglou has his side playing with plenty of self-assurance and their last-gasp win over Perth Glory away last start will have them brimming with confidence.

Newcastle will retain the services of striker Jeremy Brockie who returns from injury and international duty but lose key defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley who will leave a gaping hole in the back half.

Brisbane should be too good to take this one out and continue their solid form which has yielded two wins from their past two.

Verdict: 2-0 Roar
