Brisbane Roar signs Bahrain international Adnan

Brisbane Roar Football Club has signed Bahraini international defender Sayed Mohamed Adnan to a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old has been capped 79 times by Bahrain, scoring 13 goals in the process, and was runner-up for the 2009 Asian Player of the Year award.

His goal-scoring record at club level is even more impressive, having scored 37 times in 104 matches for Qatari club Al-Khor.

Standing at 189cm, Adnan promises to add am imposing figure in the heart of the Brisbane Roar defence while posing a threat at the other end of the field from set-piece situations.

Adnan has trained with the squad for nearly a month, giving himself and the coaching staff plenty of time come to the decision Brisbane Roar was the right fit for all concerned.

For his part, Adnan is extremely happy with his new home in Brisbane.

"Everybody here respects each other and they want to be Champions," Adnan said. "I like that.

"On the field they are serious, off the field they are nice and try to help each other.

"I want to continue the same job that the team did last year.

"They want to be Champions and I am also looking forward to that with a team.

"My job is to make our goal safe and we will try get good results this season, better than last season.

"It is different weather between Australia and the Gulf.

"The weather is perfect for me here, it is cooler and I can work hard on my fitness."
