Brisbane Roar sanction Tiatto

Brisbane Roar Football Club has sanctioned Danny Tiatto for his gesture to the crowd in Saturday's Hyundai A-League match with Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium. Tiatto was shown on television gesturing to the crowd in the latter stages of the second half of the match.

Brisbane Roar CEO Peter McLennan said although Tiatto was a highly valued member of the team, it was important the club maintained a high level of professionalism.

"The club fully supports Danny as a footballer and his enormous contribution to the club through his undeniable talent and commitment," McLennan said.

"However, in this instance the club does not condone his actions and believes it is not the right message to be sending to the thousands of young fans around the country.

"The club will not tolerate that level of behavior from any player or staff member."

Tiatto has been issued with a fine by the club, the sum of which will remain confidential.

The club now believes the matter to be closed and will make no further comment.
