Brisbane Roar coach Frank Farina has pleaded for a second chance after being stood down by the club.

The former Socceroos boss was booked for drink-driving on Saturday morning and has been indefinitely suspended by Roar officials but insists that although he was wrong, it was just a slight blip on the radar.

"I've made a mistake. It's a big one I know, it's terribly embarrassing for me and my family and I accept that," he said.

"There is not too much I can say in my defence, but I honestly didn't think there would be a problem.

"I have apologised to my family, the club, the players and the fans. But I don't want it (coaching career) to end here. I want to prove myself and show the right people what I can do.

"I can't hide anywhere and I'm not trying to get out of it," he added.

"I accept I am in the wrong, but I want to go before the board and ask for a second chance.

"I believe I am the best man for the job and I want success for the club."
