Brisbane Roar fans threatening to boycott Everton game

Brisbane Roar fans are threatening to boycott July's friendly with English Premier League club Everton.

Fans believes ticket prices are too expensive and have started to influence friends and other Roar members to stay away from Suncorp Stadium in July 17 as the cheapest ticket is priced $49.95.

"I've sent an email to my usual members and not one will be buying a ticket for this game due to the price," said "Poidda" on the club's official supporters' forum.

"It's a shame. I can see this promoter cancelling the entire tour due to poor ticket sales."

Promoter Sam Righi is confident that the game will attract at least 30,000 supporters and said the ticket pricing of $139.95 for a gold category seat, $99.95 for silver category and two levels of family ticket (two adults, two children) at $299.90 and $179.90 were reasonable.

"I don't know why people are so pissed off about the prices," said Righi.

"It's not cheap to bring out a team from the UK to Australia when you have to pay a fee to Everton, pay all their airfares and accommodation costs, pay the venues ... and there has been zero contribution from the Government."
